Shooting In San Mateo; Shelter-in-place issued after shooting, Police say: A shelter-in-place order was issued in San Mateo on Thursday as police investigated a shooting incident. The shooting occurred near the intersection of East Hillsdale Boulevard and South Norfolk Street, prompting a significant police response.
The San Mateo Police Department (SMPD) provided an update, stating, “We are currently investigating a shooting in the area of E. Hillsdale Blvd. and S. Norfolk St. We are still determining who all is involved and what their relationship is. At this time there are no reports of suspect(s) shooting into an apartment building, as this happened streetside.”
Additionally, police indicated that potentially related incidents are being investigated in Millbrae and San Carlos. Authorities are working to determine whether these incidents are connected to the San Mateo shooting.
The shelter-in-place order was issued at 5:29 p.m. for residents in the vicinity, with police advising people to avoid the area for their safety as the investigation continues.
