Kellyann Gemmell Death – A woman from Schuylkill County lost her life in a tragic accident when her vehicle was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer on Route 422 in Exeter Township, as reported by the police on Thursday. Kellyann Gemmell, aged 52 and a resident of Minersville, was declared deceased at the crash site by a representative from the Berks County coroner’s office, according to Exeter police.
The incident took place around 1:40 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Route 422, also recognized as Benjamin Franklin Highway, in Exeter Township near Daniel Boone Road. The westbound lanes remained shut down for over four hours between Route 345 and Daniel Boone Road while authorities conducted their investigation.
Lt. Sean Fullerton mentioned that the initial findings indicated that the car was stationary at a red light at Daniel Boone Road when it was struck from behind by the 18-wheeler.
A passenger in the vehicle was transported to Reading Hospital for medical attention due to unspecified injuries, as stated by Fullerton. The identity of the truck driver, who emerged unharmed, was not disclosed by the police due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
Gemmell became the 21st individual to lose their life this year in motor vehicle accidents on Berks roads.
