SPANISH FORK, Utah (ABC4) — The Spanish Fork teenager who was hit by a car while crossing the road last month has died after three weeks on life support, according to family members.
Reagan and her friend Olivia were crossing an intersection at 2300 East Canyon Road on Saturday, May 18, when they were struck by an oncoming Kia. Both girls were hospitalized at Primary Children’s Hospital in critical condition, and Olivia was later released.
“I want to thank everyone in this amazing community for all the love and support you have showed me and my family at this unimaginably devastating time. Unfortunately my daughter was not able to live from this accident,” Juliet Teasdale wrote in a social media post.
She said she knows Reagan was greeted by her dad who had passed away when she was a baby.
Reagan donated most of her organs to help save others’ lives, which Juliet Teasdale said is “the only thing that gives [her] comfort at this time.” Her husband, David Teasdale, added that they had 90 minutes after removing her from life support to donate her organs, and she passed away on minute 88.
“To know that other suffering children will be able to live, to see, to walk is the only joy in any of this,” David Teasdale wrote in the GoFundMe.
Since the crash, Spanish Fork residents have rallied and raised concerns over the intersection where the girls were hit. Spanish Fork Mayor Mike Mendenhall said the city has been working with UDOT to install a traffic light since the fall of 2022 and anticipates it will be completed in the next several months.
“I don’t think I can ever drive by that intersection that took my daughters life,” Juliet Teasdale wrote. “But the love I’ve been shown from this community, our friends, neighbors, and ward members will never be forgotten! Thank you and god bless you all!”
