Agnes Marie Norwood, age 96, passed away on April 19, 2024 at Harbor Chase in McKinney, TX, where she had been living for the past 5 months.
Agnes was born on April 16, 1928 in Sharon, Kansas to John and Mary (Nuessen) Burenhiede. She lived in Sharon until she married. She was married to Floyd Norwood on June 6, 1955 in Sharon. They lived in various places in Kansas and Nebraska before settling in Liberal Kansas. They owned a small restaurant (Bob’s Diner) for 11 years and then worked in the oil field service industry, which took them to Enid, Oklahoma and eventually to Perryton, Texas. Floyd passed away in June of 1990 in Perryton. Agnes moved to McKinney, Texas in 2001 to be closer to her son and newly born twin grandsons.
Their son Mike was born in 1956 and second son Roger was born in 1959. Both boys grew up in Liberal.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, her parents, brothers Lawrence and Edgar Burenheide, as well as sisters Martha Nelson, Elizabeth Blurton, Mary Parks, and Leona Blurton.
She is survived by son Mike and wife Debbie of Colorado Springs, Colorado, son Roger and wife Martha of McKinney, Texas, grandson Ben Norwood and wife Lindsey of Colorado Springs, granddaughter Sarah Kashwer and husband Jared of Colorado Springs, grandson Joshua Norwood and wife Natalie of Arlington, Texas, and grandson Jarod Norwood of Plano, Texas.
She also had 2 great-grandsons, Joel and Jonah of Colorado Springs.
Per her final wishes, funeral services were held at St. Jude’s Catholic church in Allen, Texas on April 23rd. For those wishing to remember her locally, Agnes’s ashes will be laid to rest at a gravesite interment service to be held on June 28 at 11:00 am at the Ochiltree County Cemetery in Perryton, TX.
