Man Sadly Passed Away While Walking The Highest Of Yorkshire Three Peaks: A walker on the highest of the Yorkshire Three Peaks collapsed and died over the weekend, despite the efforts of bystanders who were equipped to provide medical assistance. On Saturday afternoon, near the top of Whernside, two medical personnel were out on foot and equipped with a defibrillator. They attempted CPR on an unconscious male who was not breathing.
At 1.21 p.m., police from Cumbria and North Yorkshire notified Cave Rescue Organization, who then requested an air ambulance. Regrettably, the man was not able to be revived. An official from the CRO, which is situated in Clapham, stated: “The team received a complaint of an unconscious male adult who was not breathing from both North Yorkshire Police and Cumbria Police. “The team was able to respond once it was determined that this was a single occurrence and that the location was near the summit of Whernside, which straddles both counties.
“Through the police, the crew also requested that Yorkshire Air Ambulance respond. Along with starting CPR, the two medical personnel on Whernside were also carrying a defibrillator. “Sadly, the casualty could not be revived despite their best efforts and the Helimed (air ambulance) crew’s. “The team then worked with the Helimed crew to evacuate the casualty to the road head for transfer to the police and ambulance crew.” “The team’s thoughts are with the deceased’s family and friends,” the statement continued.
