CAMBRIDGE, MD – A Cambridge man was arrested and charged following a violent altercation on May 30, where he allegedly assaulted another individual. The incident occurred around 10:21 PM in the 400 block of Willis Street, according to the Cambridge Police Department.
Officers were called to the scene due to reports of a physical disturbance. Upon arrival, they contacted both a witness and the victim, who reported that Marco Ray Wilkes, 42, of Cambridge, MD, had assaulted the victim by strangling and striking them multiple times.
The situation escalated until the witness intervened, using pepper spray on Wilkes, who then fled the residence and caused damage to windows.
Wilkes was later found on foot near Park Lane but initially escaped into a wooded area. Police eventually located him in the 500 block of Edgewood Avenue. He sustained injuries from the window damage and was taken to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center for treatment before being processed at the Cambridge Police Department.
After his initial court appearance, Wilkes was remanded to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections without bond.
