David O’Donnell Death – The University of Chicago Hospital experienced a tragic incident when a construction worker fell from scaffolding and lost his life. The deceased has been identified as David O’Donnell, a 27-year-old resident of Oak Forest.
O’Donnell was one of two individuals who fell from the scaffolding due to strong winds at the hospital’s cancer pavilion. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed O’Donnell’s identity. Authorities received a distress call at approximately 11:45 a.m. and promptly responded to the scene located on South Maryland Street. O’Donnell was immediately transported to the University of Chicago hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Another individual involved in the incident was also taken to the same hospital in critical condition. The police are currently investigating the incident as an accident, while the Occupational Safety & Health Administration has also been involved in the investigation. It is believed that the scaffolding was compromised by winds reaching speeds of 40 mph.
