Alexis Brown has been named the South Atlantic Conference’s Outdoor Track and Field Female Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season.
The Sophomore from Mableton, Georgia entered the season as a First Team All-Conference selection. Brown would go on to dominate earning a National Championship in the 100 Meter Dash producing a first-place time of 10.96, beating out the competition by 18 hundredths of a second. Alongside Melody Jones, Victoria Aransiola and Holly Kone, Brown also won the National Championship in the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 44.21.
During the season, Brown was dominant, picking up the SAC Titles in the 4×100 and 100 M. Brown would set a NCAA Division II record during the 100 M Prelims at Conference with a qualifying time of 11.04. This broke her own record set earlier in the season.
Brown has swept this season’s South Atlantic Conference Athlete of the Year honors after an equally impressive indoor season. At the Indoor National Championship, Brown won National Championships in the 60 M and 200 M.
With five total National Championships Brown has the most by any athlete in Lenoir-Rhyne history. In the 2022-23 season, Brown won the 200 M National Championship.
The SAC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year award is determined following the completion of the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championship and is voted on by the league’s head coaches.
