Zach Henn Death – An 11th-grade student at El Dorado High School passed away on Tuesday after his 1984 Corvette collided with a Range Rover while he was driving himself and his friends to school. The student who lost his life was identified as 17-year-old Zach Henn, a junior at the high school, according to KTLA.
The incident occurred around 8:20 a.m. at Yorba Linda Boulevard and Valencia Avenue, as reported by the Placentia Police Department. Upon their arrival, officers discovered the teenager trapped inside his recently purchased 1984 Corvette, KTLA stated. Emergency responders were able to extract Henn from his vehicle and transport him to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The passenger in Henn’s car, another teenage boy, managed to exit the vehicle on his own and was found at the scene before being taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, authorities confirmed. The occupants of the Range Rover, driven by a 39-year-old woman with two children, were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The news of the junior’s passing left his friends, classmates, and loved ones in shock, as reported by KTLA. Henn was an active member of the school’s track team and was known for his adventurous spirit and zest for life. “I just spoke to him yesterday,” said student and friend Jacob Estrada to KTLA. “He was updating me on how things were going, how he was always busy. He had a new job and a new car, too. He was really excited about [the Corvette]. He adored it and spent a lot of time working on it.”
The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District released a statement addressing the tragic event. “Our entire school district is deeply saddened beyond words,” stated Superintendent Alex Cherniss. “During this incredibly difficult time, we request your understanding in respecting the privacy of our student’s family and friends, and to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.”
Additional support personnel and counselors were dispatched to the El Dorado campus and other schools in the aftermath of the accident.
