Patrick Halgren, a two-time Paralympic skier who grew up in Tolland, won a silver medal at the Paralympics in Italy Monday in the standing Super G.
Robin Cuche of Switzerland won the gold medal.
Halgren, 33, is an above-knee amputee. He lost his left leg after a motorcycle accident in 2013 which left him in a coma for a month.
Halgren was motivated by his twin brother Lucas, who pushed him to try para alpine skiing after his accident but was killed in a motorcycle crash in 2016 in New Zealand.
In his first race on Saturday in the men’s downhill, Halgren did not finish.
