Tributes
Loved ones are mourning the news of Kevon Carter passing. Malachi Hammonds of Baltimore, Maryland, wrote:
When parents drop their sons and daughters off at college, they entrust their lives to Residential Assistants (RAs). Kevon Carter began his journey at Morgan State University during Freshman Orientation Week, where I first greeted him, moms, and pops at the front desk of Rawlings Hall. Little did I know, Carter would soon be joined by five other young men, all friends from NYC. He quickly informed me that they were all friends and reassured them, saying, “Malachi got y’all!” As Carter’s parents left campus that day, they entrusted me with their sons, particularly Carter.
Throughout that week and the years that followed, these young men tested my patience and stressed me out. From helping with financial aid, registering for classes, partying, spring break adventures, girlfriend drama, joining Greek organizations, to hospital visits, housing drama, I was there for it all ensuring I kept my promise to moms and pops
The bond we share is unique. Despite all the trials and tribulations, we developed a brotherhood. However, this morning, a piece of that bond is missing.
Rest well, brother! Your legacy will carry on, and your smile and energy will be deeply missed!
