e are deeply saddened to share that our dear friend and neighbor, Jim LaForest, passed away a few days ago. Jim was not just a resident of our town but a cornerstone of our community, a longtime Grange member, and a steadfast supporter of numerous local initiatives. Together with his beloved wife, Shirley, Jim’s contributions to our community were immeasurable, and their combined legacy continues to shape our town in countless ways.
Jim LaForest’s commitment to community service was evident in everything he did. Despite founding the whimsically named “Do-Nothing Club,” Jim was a man of action and dedication. His philosophy was simple: if it could help strengthen our town and build a brighter future, it was worth doing. This guiding principle led him to become involved in various projects and activities that have left an indelible mark on our community.
Both Jim and Shirley were the very essence of community spirit. They were always ready to lend a hand, offer support, and participate in efforts that benefited everyone. Whether it was through organizing events, supporting local causes, or simply being there for a neighbor in need, their generosity and kindness knew no bounds. The impact of their work can be seen and felt in the vibrant, close-knit community we are proud to call home.
