Two people were stabbed during separate incidents in New Haven on Saturday night.

The first incident occurred on Downing Street near Del Rio Drive where a 21-year-old New Haven woman said she was stabbed during an altercation, according to the New Haven Police Department.

Police began investigating just before 11 p.m. when the woman was dropped off in a private vehicle at Yale New Haven Hospital. Her injuries were considered serious but non-life-threatening, police said.

Just before 11:15 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Whitney Avenue and Trumbull Street on the report of another stabbing.

Police said the victim, a 48-year-old man, told investigators he had been stabbed following an altercation at a bar in the 500 block of Winchester Avenue. His injuries were later found to be non-life-threatening.

Both incidents remain under investigation. Anyone with information has been asked to contact detectives at 203-946-6304 or the department’s anonymous tip-line at 866-888-TIPS (8477).
