The incident occurred just after 1:30 a.m. on May 30, near 16th Street and Roeser Road. Phoenix Police officers arrived at the scene to find a woman with a gunshot wound lying outside the residence. The victim, identified as 38-year-old Genoveva Antillon, was transported to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
According to the police, the suspect, 35-year-old Maury Williamson, was initially interviewed and provided statements that were inconsistent with the evidence found at the crime scene. Phoenix Police Sgt. Phil Krynsky explained, “While conducting their interviews, detectives spoke to 35-year-old Maury Williamson, who provided statements that were inconsistent with the crime scene. He was questioned on those inconsistencies and later admitted to shooting Antillon accidentally when he shot at a dog on the property that he thought was attacking him.”
Investigators obtained a search warrant and recovered the firearm, which had been hidden inside the mobile home. Based on the evidence and Williamson’s admission, he has been charged with manslaughter, weapons violations, and tampering with evidence.
