Manfred Schmidt Obituary, Springfield Motorcyclist Killed In Crash Identified; The 64-year-old motorcyclist from Springfield who was killed in a collision at the intersection of Mansion and Curran Roads on Thursday morning has been identified as Manfred Schmidt, according to Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon. Schmidt was pronounced dead at Springfield Memorial Hospital’s emergency room following the crash.
Sheriff Jack Campbell informed The State Journal-Register that the collision occurred when a GMC Acadia, heading west on Mansion Road, struck Schmidt, who was traveling south on Curran Road.
The Sangamon County Coroner’s Office, the Illinois State Police, and the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate Schmidt’s death. The autopsy report indicated that Schmidt died from blunt force injuries sustained in the collision.
