Ever wanted your own underground tunnel to a secret “club?” This Connecticut estate has one.

The home, located at 61 Ely Road in Farmington, includes a private, underground tunnel connecting the basement to a separate structure on the property, “boasting what is arguably the best view in the Farmington Valley,” according to its realtor.

The tunnel, the realtor said, was a “creative workaround.” The property owners were not allowed to remove the existing structure due to local regulations, so they connected the two. The structure is the original A-frame that was on the 5-acre property.

The over 12,000-square-foot home was built in 2007 and overlooks the Farmington Valley with a view that stretches 78 miles into New York. Stepping through the front doors, you are welcomed into a grand foyer opening to formal living and dining rooms. The gourmet kitchen has inset cabinetry, beam ceilings, an expansive island, a professional six-burner dual-oven range, dual dishwashers and a custom pizza oven. The home has hosted 200 guests before.

Stained glass along with acorn and oak leaf motifs are woven throughout the home.

In total there are six bedrooms with ensuites for a total of eight full bathrooms. The star of the home is the primary bedroom suite with a sitting room, two walk-in closets, a fireplace, private balcony, and a spa bath with a jacuzzi and steam shower.

The lower level has a gym, western saloon and the underground tunnel. The property also includes a six-car carriage house with a kitchen and bath.

The home is listed for $4 million and is represented by Cathy McCahill of William Pitt Julie B Fee Sotheby’s International Realty.
