Accident On 101 North Today; Motorist killed after getting hit by 2 vehicles on Hwy 101 in Palo Alto, CHP reports: A tragic accident occurred early Friday on U.S. Highway 101 in Palo Alto, resulting in the death of a motorist whose vehicle was initially disabled. According to Officer Sophie Lu of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Redwood City office, the incident unfolded at 2:52 a.m. when the driver of a red Hyundai SUV contacted authorities after hitting an object on northbound Highway 101, just north of the San Antonio Road on-ramp. The collision damaged the Hyundai, leaving it stranded on the highway.
Shortly after the driver called for assistance, two other vehicles collided with the disabled SUV. Despite the quick response, the driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, the occupants of the two other vehicles involved in the subsequent collisions, each of whom was driving alone, did not sustain any injuries.
The CHP responded by closing the northbound lanes of the highway near the on-ramp to manage the situation and ensure safety while investigations were conducted.
