Robert Sangster Jr Death – The man who died in Astor early Wednesday morning has been identified by the Florida Highway Patrol as Robert Sangster Jr., 26, of Umatilla. Sangster Jr. was hit by a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 58-year-old woman from Polk City while standing in the westbound lane of State Road 40 near Blue Creek Lodge Road around 4 a.m.
The woman tried to avoid hitting Sangster Jr. but the right side of her SUV collided with him. He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was unharmed and stayed at the scene according to FHP. The accident led to the closure of State Road 40 for about five hours.
