Alton Man Killed In Three-Vehicle Crash In Buckingham County : Virginia State Police have confirmed that an Alton man was among four individuals killed in a tragic multi-vehicle crash that occurred in Buckingham County on May 28. The collision took place around 11:40 a.m. on Route 15 South, near the intersection with Route 781. According to troopers, the incident began when 77-year-old Erika M. Henshaw of Dillwyn, driving a 2012 Ford Fusion, crossed the center line of Route 15 and collided with a northbound 2022 Ford T350.
The impact did not stop the Fusion, which continued traveling in the wrong direction before crashing head-on into a 2021 Nissan. The collision was so severe that it caused the Nissan to run off the road and overturn. Tragically, all four individuals involved in the crash died at the scene.
The victims have been identified as follows: Erika M. Henshaw**, 77, of Dillwyn, who was driving the Ford Fusion, Alvin P. Henshaw**, 85, also of Dillwyn, who was a passenger in the Ford Fusion, Runping Z. Rhett**, 66, of Alton, who was driving the Nissan, Eric D. Truscott**, 37, who was a passenger in the Nissan. Virginia State Police confirmed that all victims were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Ford T350 was not injured. The Buckingham County Department of Emergency Services, along with volunteer fire companies from Dillwyn and Toga, assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by state police to determine the exact cause of the accident.
