Jonathan Jurecki Obituary – Jonathan Jurecki, a 44-year-old man, was shot and killed by a Michigan State Police Trooper following a threat to kill everyone with a fake bomb. The incident occurred after an hours-long standoff in southern Oceana County.
Troopers initially responded to reports of Jurecki behaving erratically at a house on Skeels Road. He later left the home and was located near Skeels Road and Nichols Road. Upon spotting troopers, Jurecki fled into a wooded area and returned holding what seemed to be a “wired device,” which he used to threaten people. Backup and a bomb squad were called in, and nearby residents were evacuated.
Following negotiations, a member of the Emergency Support Team shot Jurecki, resulting in his death. The device was later confirmed to be a hoax. The investigation has been handed over to Michigan State Police’s 5th District Investigative Team.
