Suzanne Michael Wilson Obituary – The identity of the woman who tragically lost her life when a tree fell on her apartment in Mountain Brook has been released by the authorities. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified her as Suzanne Michael Wilson, a 79-year-old woman.
It is worth noting that she was the mother of Mike Wilson, the renowned Alabama pitmaster and the visionary behind the Saw’s BBQ empire, who passed away unexpectedly in 2020. At the time of the incident, Wilson was inside her residence located at the small building on the intersection of Petticoat Lane and Montevallo Road, situated in the heart of Mountain Brook Village. This unfortunate event occurred during the morning storms that swept through the Birmingham area.
Upon receiving the distress call, firefighters from Mountain Brook and Homewood promptly responded to the scene and diligently worked to stabilize the building.
Tragically, Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates confirmed that Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:18 a.m. Outside the apartment, numerous friends and family members gathered, offering comfort through hugs and tears. While one other apartment sustained damage, thankfully, no other injuries were reported.
