Man Who Died In KC’s Westport Mass Shooting Identified-Police: Kansas City According to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina, the individual who died in the fatal mass shooting in Kansas City has been identified as 24-year-old Jahquan M. Robinson by law enforcement officials.
Sheriff Daryl Forte reports that just before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers in the Westport Entertainment District responded to the sound of gunfire at the intersection of Westport and Broadway.
Multiple gunshot victims were discovered by first responders. When EMS arrived, they attended to the victims’ non-life-threatening wounds. Robinson was declared dead at the local hospital after six victims were taken there by EMS and a private car.
According to the KCPD, an initial investigation revealed that the incident was the consequence of an altercation that turned into gunshots. The person of interest who was taken into custody early on Sunday has been released.
Police believe there are many witnesses since a large crowd near the scene of the shooting dispersed when shots were fired. Detectives and crime scene investigators have processed the scene for evidence and also want to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting.
