Redshirt junior Ice Brady‘s season is officially over after undergoing surgery to repair a knee injury, the UConn women’s basketball team announced Tuesday.

Brady played in the first two games of the season for the Huskies, averaging 2.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in 11.5 minutes. But she began experiencing what coach Geno Auriemma described as “inflammation” in her right knee and has been out since Nov. 12. According to UConn, Brady’s surgery Monday was successful.

Brady, a 6-foot-3 forward, committed to UConn as the No. 5 recruit in the Class of 2022, but she redshirted her true freshman season after dislocating the patella in her right knee during preseason. Over two healthy seasons with the program in 2023-24 and 2024-25, Brady made 71 appearances with 15 starts averaging 4.1 points and 3.1 rebounds in 16.6 minutes per game.

Because she appeared in fewer than 30% of the team’s games during the first half of the season, Brady should be eligible for an additional medical redshirt year.

Brady is academically a senior, and Auriemma said on his radio show Monday she will be recognized during the Huskies’ Senior Day celebration on Sunday following their game against Providence at Gampel Pavilion. However, participating in the ceremony does not necessarily mean she intends to end her college career. Since 2022, Azzi Fudd, Paige Bueckers, Aubrey Griffin and Dorka Juhasz have all walked on Senior Day before returning to compete for an additional season.

UConn is back in action Wednesday night for a Big East matchup at Villanova.
