Abel Mejía Martínez, Pedro Manuel Alcantar Mejía Death – The six individuals who lost their lives in a tragic two-vehicle accident in Idaho Falls on May 18 have been identified by the Bonneville County coroner. The victims are Abel Mejía Martínez, 43, Pedro Manuel Alcantar Mejía, 26, Brandon Ponce Gallegos, 24, Jose Guadalupe Sánchez Medina, 20, Luis Enrique Sereno Perez, 32, and Javier Gomez Alcantar, 36.
According to the Idaho State Police (ISP), the incident occurred when a Dodge Ram pickup, traveling eastbound on US-20 near the Lindsay Boulevard exit, suddenly veered left of the highway center and collided with a westbound Chevrolet Express passenger van. The collision took place at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Tragically, the van’s driver and five passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, as confirmed by ISP. The van was carrying a total of fifteen individuals. The remaining nine passengers in the van, along with the truck’s driver, sustained injuries and were promptly transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
The Idaho State Police is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this devastating crash.
