A Milford man was sentenced Wednesday for reportedly threatening to harm and kill a federal law enforcement officer and their family.
Hamilton Clark Smith, 61, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sarala V. Nagala in Hartford to 43 days in prison, time already served, and one year of probation, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut. Court records show that, on Jan. 10 and 11, 2023, Smith reportedly sent a series of text messages to a Deputy U.S. Marshal threatening to harm and kill them and their family.
Smith was arrested on Jan. 12, 2023, and detained until Feb. 16, 2023, when he was released on bond.
