A Southbury man is facing multiple charges after allegedly threatening to “blow up” an elementary school last November.

Christopher Iannacone, 29, was arrested on an active warrant on Wednesday while appearing at Stamford Superior Court on unrelated state charges, according to the Westport Police Department. He was charged with.first-degree threatening, first-degree falsely reporting an incident, misuse of the emergency 911 system, third-degree computer crime, computer crime in furtherance of terroristic purposes and second-degree breach of peace.

On Nov. 3, 2025, the Fairfield County Regional Dispatch Center received a text to 911 around 7:34 a.m. that appeared to be a threat on Coleytown Elementary School, located at 65 Easton Road in Westport. Police said the text read, “I’ll blow up Coleytown Elementary School.”

The threat resulted a two-hour delay to start the school days, the re-routing of school buses and an evacuation of the school, according to police.

Westport, Fairfield and Norwalk Police Departments’ explosive detection canine units, in coordination with the Stamford Police Department’s Bomb Squad, conducted a search of the school. “Their investigation caused further disruption to the neighboring Coleytown Middle School, as it was the subject of a shelter in place order. After an exhaustive search of the premises, no explosives were located,” police said.

Investigators traced the message to a cell phone number that was allegedly found to be in possession of Iannacone. According to police, he was located by officers a short distance from the school at the time the threat was received.

Police said Iannacone initially claimed that his cell phone had somehow been “hacked.”

“Further investigation, including a forensic examination of the device, interviews with the suspect and coordination with other agencies investigating similar incidents, further supported the allegation that Iannacone was responsible for sending the threatening message,” police alleged.

An arrest warrant was requested and granted for Iannacone.

Iannacone was held on a $100,000 bond he was unable to post. He was arraigned on Thursday and remanded to the custody of the Department of Correction.

“The Westport Police Department wishes to thank our law enforcement partners from Fairfield, Norwalk and Stamford for their assistance in investigating the initial threat,” the department said.
