Wrong-Way Crash On I-82 Near Zillah-Toppenish Woman Killed : Alaska County, Washington On May 19, three cars collided in the wrong direction close to Zillah, killing one woman. At 10:47 p.m., Washington State Patrol troopers were called to an accident on I-82 approximately five miles west of Zillah.
A Chevy Cruze in the left westbound lane was struck by a 27-year-old Toppenish woman driving an eastbound Subaru Legacy in the westbound lanes. The WSP claims that the Chevy then collided with a Dodge Charger. After being taken to a hospital in Yakima, the woman passed away from her wounds; her next of kin has not yet been informed of her passing.
A 22-year-old Yakima guy driving the Chevy was also taken to the hospital, while a 21-year-old Union Gap man driving the Charger was not hurt in the collision. As to the WSP, all three drivers were on seatbelts. Although the reason of the collision is still being looked at, the WSP claims that alcohol or drugs were a factor.
