Alasia Franklin Death – A Kennesaw State University student was fatally shot on Saturday following a dispute, leading to the arrest of a man in connection to her death, as confirmed by the university in an official statement. The altercation took place in front of the Austin Residence Complex on the Kennesaw Campus, according to the university. In response to reports of an armed intruder, the university issued a secure-in-place alert on campus at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The suspect was located and apprehended by Cobb County Police, prompting the university to issue an all-clear alert by 4:43 p.m.
The student who lost her life has been identified as Alasia Franklin by the university. KSU President Kathy S. Schwaig expressed condolences to the victim’s family and friends during this challenging period in a news release. The suspect, Samuel Harris, who is not a KSU student, has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, as stated in a news release by Kennesaw State University.
Franklin, the victim, was known for her determination and advocacy for others. She was involved in student government and aspired to become a nurse practitioner, according to Atlanta News First.Following the tragic incident, the university is working closely with law enforcement agencies, including the University police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, to investigate the case.
In light of the shooting, the university has reminded its community members about the availability of KSU’s Counseling and Psychological Services office for support.
