Miami-Dade Police reported that Carlos Humberto Fabian, a resident of North Bay Village, was driving a Volkswagen Jetta northbound on North Miami Avenue towards NE 10th Street when he lost control of his vehicle, crossing into the southbound lanes. Allegedly, he crashed into a Hyundai Sedan and a motorcycle that were traveling in the opposite direction.
Tragically, the motorcyclist, identified as 36-year-old Bobby Jenkins, lost his life at the scene, while a female passenger on the motorcycle was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition. Footage from cameras captured the aftermath of the collision, with firefighters attempting to access the trunk of one of the vehicles involved.
Emergency crews were also seen covering a body with a white sheet. An eyewitness, who was in an Uber at the time, recounted how the car responsible for the crash was driving on the wrong side of the road, striking the vehicle they were in before colliding with three others. Fabian is now facing multiple DUI charges related to this fatal accident.
