One person was rescued from a two-alarm house fire in Bristol on Saturday morning after a plow driver reported the blaze..

The Bristol Dispatch Center received a call from a Bristol plow driver at around 8:26 a.m. Saturday reporting a fire in a residential home on Perkins Street, according to the Bristol Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at 8:29 a.m. and reported smoke coming from the chimney and the eaves. After entering the home, firefighters reported a working basement fire and initiated “suppression activities,” fire officials said.

Firefighters initially believed that the residence was vacant at the time. Additional firefighters arrived at the scene and conducted a primary search of the residence and located one occupant in the kitchen area, according to fire officials.

The occupant was rescued from the residence as Bristol EMS immediately rendered care, fire officials said. The occupant’s injury status was unknown at this time.

Due to weather conditions, firefighters initiated a second alarm as mutual aid from the Southington and New Britain Fire Departments supplied station coverage, according to fire officials.

Fire officials said the fire “was knocked down at approximately 8:44 a.m. and substantial extinguishment of all fire at approximately 9:02 a.m.”

The Fire Marshal reported to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Fire officials said the investigation is ongoing.
