He was announced dead by the company in a statement on social media that read “It is with the heaviest of hearts that although Mike fought like the true warrior he was the last few days, he was unable to overcome his injuries and win this battle. About Michael Sigouin and Blowndeadline Custom Finish
After deciding to paint an old, rugged Sig Sauer P225, Mike founded Blowndeadline Custom Finish 07 FFL/ SOT. He looked into the best coating and discovered NIC Industries Cerakote H Series. He only needed to find someone to paint it now that he had discovered the covering. Upon contacting multiple Michigan-based firms and seeing that the costs ranged from $350 to $550, he concluded that he could handle the task himself. How difficult could it really be? He painted cars and owned a compressor, so what could be wrong?
He purchased a six-color testing kit from NIC, which included a user manual, a graduated cylinder, six 4-ounce tests, a cheap spray gun, and a few filters. He began looking up videos on Cerakote. watched as many as he could before deciding he was ready to take on the task alone. I visited a classic Harbor Freight, purchased a tabletop sandblaster, and then set to work. I also acquired some 100-grit aluminum oxide on eBay and a used double oven from Craigslist. It goes without saying that spraying automobiles differs greatly from spraying firearms! On the first try, the finish looked like orange peel.
He continued to read and watch videos on YouTube until he understood flow, air pressure, and other factors. Quite well done for his third try! He was designing IPs, consoles, door panels, and other interior automobile elements for a Tier 1 automotive supplier when he was employed there. After his contract expired and the corporation let him go, he bounced around a few smaller stores until he became fed up with everything. His wife Dana, a registered nurse, was dubious yet encouraging of his attempt to paint with a rifle! Later on, she came to join Mike.
