The Irvine Police Department released more details on Friday surrounding the murder of a UPS man who was found shot inside his delivery van the day before. It was said that the dead and the suspect were “acquaintances.
” The fifty-year-old Expedito Cuesta De Leon was slumped over in the truck’s driver’s seat when cops raced to a location at Fleming and Chrysler at about three o’clock on Thursday afternoon, according to the Irvine Police Department.
Numerous reports of gunshots being fired nearby have been made to the authorities. De Leon eventually succumbed to his injuries and died, despite the police’ best efforts to save his life once they were able to extract him from the truck.
Approximately three hours later, Rhean Fontanoza, 46, was arrested by SWAT officers on suspicion of killing De Leon. This came about following a skirmish that happened about fifteen miles from the location where they found De Leon.
UPS released a statement on Friday indicating that it was assisting with the investigation. The police claimed that although the victim and the suspect are both Aliso Viejo residents, they are acquaintances, and they have not yet determined a motive.
