Matthew Leonard Bauer, 36, of Grapevine, Texas, passed away on May 12, 2024. Atlanta, Georgia, was his birthplace on May 11, 1988. Matthew graduated from Southlake Carroll Senior High School in 2006 and played baseball at McLennan Community College and the University of Central Arkansas. After earning a bachelor’s degree in health science, he worked in IT sales at Verizon, HP, and IBM before dying.
Matthew’s closest friends and family knew him as one of the funniest, honest, and kindest people they knew. His honesty and sincerity won over everyone, and his quick wit and biting humour could brighten any room.
With a few words, Matthew could clarify the most complicated problems, offer wise advice or mediate family disputes. All who sought his advice valued his wisdom and direction, and his influence went beyond his family. At Lake Grapevine, Matthew loved golfing, fishing, and walking his dog, Bryon. Matthew adored baseball. At three, he named the St. Louis Cardinals starting lineup. He soon played in local leisure leagues, travel club teams, school teams, and division one college baseball, including the all-star collegiate summer squad.
Matthew’s surviving family members are Mark and Mary Bauer, his sister Morgan Holt (Teddy), nephews Theodore and Mason, and niece Charlotte. His grandparents, Leslie and Lena Bauer, Bud and Gwendolyn Leonard McDonald, and cousin Dylan Graves, died before him. White’s Chapel Methodist Church in the Sanctuary, 185 South White Chapel Boulevard, Southlake, TX 76092, will have a Celebration of Life on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 1 p.m. Central Time.
