A 35-year-old man has been found guilty in a fatal 2017 double shooting, officials said.
Treyvon Battle, 35, of New Haven, has been found guilty of murder, first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit, according to the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice.
On Jan. 28, a jury in New Haven Superior Court found Battle guilty on all charges.
According to evidence introduced at trial, on May 27, 2017, Battle shot two men, Garian Suggs, 26, and Norman Boone, 27, on Dickerman Street in New Haven. Suggs suffered a gunshot wound to the neck from which he recovered. Boone was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
For five years, no suspect was charged with the shooting, until a break in the case in 2022, according to WFSB. Between 2017 and 2022, Battle was charged with three separate gun offenses, but continued to receive bail. Since 2022, Battle has been kept in police custody.
Sentencing is scheduled for April 7, 2026 in New Haven Superior Court.
