A 28-year-old man is facing several charges after police say he threatened to kill two juveniles in the parking lot of a Panera Bread in Wallingford, officials said.
Ajay Ramirez, of Waterbury, was arrested and charged with second-degree breach of peace, first-degree threatening, and risk of injury to a minor, according to the Wallingford Police Department.
On Dec. 28, Wallingford police said they received two 911 emergency calls from separate girls, one of whom reported that a man allegedly had a firearm and had threatened to kill her.
Officers immediately dispatched to the parking lot at 1094 North Colony Road outside a Panera Bread.
Upon arrival, officers determined that the suspect had fled the area before police arrived. The victim reported that while she and another juvenile female were seated in their vehicle, a man pulled in front of them in a separate vehicle and allegedly pointed a firearm at them. The victims immediately contacted 911 and drove away from the area to avoid further confrontation, according to police.
Ramirez was allegedly wearing a mask at the time of the incident, police said.
The investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a minor verbal altercation between the victims and the suspect.
After being booked and processed at the Wallingford Police Department, Ramirez was released on a $25,000 bond. He is due in court on Feb. 6.
