Gibson Southern High School and the broader community are mourning the loss of one of their own, Quentin Powell, affectionately known as “Q.” The news of his passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, as they remember a vibrant young man full of life and enthusiasm.
Quentin Powell, born on December 16th, 2008, in Woodbridge, Virginia, was a beloved son to Laura and Tiffany Gordon. At just 15 years old, Quentin’s untimely departure has deeply saddened his family, friends, and peers at Gibson Southern High School, where he was in his freshman year.
Described as adventurous and fearless, Quentin lived life to the fullest, always seeking excitement in every endeavor. Whether it was go-karting, parasailing, indoor skydiving, or exploring the heights of the Garden of the Gods, Quentin was up for any challenge.
One of Quentin’s greatest dreams was to become a Marine, a passion he held dear since kindergarten. His love for the ocean was evident in his fondness for summer trips to beaches in Florida and Virginia. Quentin was a natural swimmer, unafraid of diving into deep waters and embracing the waves.
Beyond his adventurous spirit, Quentin deeply loved literature and entertainment. He found joy in the magical world of Harry Potter and relished visits to Universal Studios and Disney World. Yet, amidst his love for adventure and fantasy, Quentin remained grounded, often reading books or singing along to his favorite tunes.
Quentin’s absence is keenly felt in the halls of Gibson Southern High School. His infectious energy and zest for life touched everyone he encountered, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting impact on the school community.
While the cause of Quentin’s passing remains unknown, his legacy of bravery, passion, and joy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. As we mourn the loss of Quentin Powell, let us remember the light he brought into our lives and strive to honor his memory by embracing each day with the same courage and enthusiasm that he exemplified.
