A man and two juveniles were arrested early Thursday in connection with two stolen vehicles that were recovered in Newtown.

Officers first began investigating when they received a report of an abandoned vehicle at the intersection of Aunt Park Lane and Hundred Acres Road at 1:15 a.m., according to Lt. Scott P. Smith of the Newtown Police Department.

Smith said police then received the report of a motor vehicle crash on Butterfield Road at 1:36 a.m. The vehicle that crashed was found to be registered to a resident of Aunt Park Lane.

During the investigations, police learned that both vehicles were stolen, Smith said. They were also alerted by a witness to a third vehicle that was seen being driven slowly around the area of Butterfield Road.

The third vehicle was spotted by a patrol officer who conducted a stop, Smith said. Four people were inside, including 19-year-old Rashaun Woods of Stratford, who was a front seat passenger, and two juveniles in the rear of the vehicle, ages 13 and 15, according to Smith. Smith did not identify the driver.

The officers who investigated the stolen vehicles arrested Woods and the juveniles, according to Smith.

Woods was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, evading responsibility, operating without a license and improper turn. He was held on a $25,000 bond and was expected to be arraigned in Danbury Superior Court later in the day.

One of the juveniles was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of burglary tools. The other faces charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of burglary tools and weapons in a motor vehicle.

The juveniles were released to their parents after being transported to the hospital for minor injuries that stemmed from the motor vehicle crash, Smith said.
