The UConn women’s basketball team’s game at Seton Hall scheduled for Sunday afternoon has been moved up 24 hours to Saturday due to the major snow and ice storm sweeping across the country this weekend.

The Huskies will tip off the Big East matchup at Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange, New Jersey at noon Saturday, and the game will still air on Peacock and NBC Sports Network as previously planned.

The incoming storm is expected to impact 35 states, traveling from as far west as New Mexico and as far south as Texas up through the northeast. Connecticut governor Ned Lamont activated the state’s severe cold weather protocol to run from noon Friday through Jan. 28 with temperatures in the Hartford area expected to fall into single digits with wind gusts well above 20 miles per hour. Projections vary on the amount of snow that will hit the region, but Connecticut is likely to see anywhere from four inches to over a foot between Sunday and Monday afternoon.

UConn beat Seton Hall 84-48 the first time the teams met this season at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, and the team is currently 9-0 in the conference entering a game at Georgetown on Thursday night. After Seton Hall on Saturday, the Huskies return home to face Xavier at Gampel Pavilion on Jan. 28.
