The Lexington and Buffalo communities are grappling with the aftermath of two devastating incidents that occurred late Friday night and early Wednesday morning, claiming the lives of two individuals and leaving their loved ones in mourning.
In Lexington, the Lexington Police Department confirmed that one person lost their life in a crash late Friday night, which involved an intoxicated motorist. The victim has been identified as 54-year-old Billy Joe Williamson Jr. The incident occurred in the 3400 block of Winchester Road at approximately 11 p.m. Williamson was found with potentially fatal injuries and was rushed to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where he tragically succumbed to his wounds. Preliminary investigations by the Lexington Police Department suggest that the crash was caused by a driver who crossed the centre line while intoxicated. Williamson, employed by WLEX, will be deeply missed by his colleagues at LEX 18.
Meanwhile, in Buffalo, a deadly vehicle accident occurred early Wednesday morning, leaving the community in shock. The Buffalo Police Department is currently investigating the incident, which took place on Niagara Street near Fargo Avenue just before 1 a.m. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Allen Ruiz, who was found dead at the scene. According to reports, Ruiz was allegedly struck by a white Dodge Durango travelling down Niagara Street before it collided with a parked car. The driver fled the scene on foot, but an individual has since been questioned about the accident, and the Durango has been seized by the police for further investigation.
As both communities mourn the loss of these promising individuals, our hearts go out to the families and friends of Billy Joe Williamson Jr. and Allen Ruiz. Words cannot adequately express the depth of our sorrow, but we extend our sincerest condolences and prayers to all those affected by these tragic losses. May they find solace and strength during this difficult time.
