Caroline Lupton Obituary – The name of the student who tragically lost her life in a devastating accident has been released by the police, as the public school community in the east continues to grieve. According to Winterville Interim Police Chief Chris Williams, the victim was 15-year-old Caroline Lupton, who was involved in a crash on Highway 11 at the intersection of Beacon Drive near Fred’s Food Club on Wednesday.
In response to this heartbreaking incident, the Crisis Response Team from Pitt County Schools immediately stepped in to provide assistance, as stated by Karen Harrington, the Director of Student Services. Harrington explains that they take note of the names of students who may be particularly affected and follow up with them, especially those who express heightened emotions.
The police report reveals that a commercial box truck, identified as ‘Horizon Forest Products’ from Raleigh, collided with the car in which Caroline Lupton was a passenger. Lupton, who was a former student at Winterville Charter Academy, was remembered fondly by Principal Annastasia Ryan, who expressed deep sorrow for the loss. Ryan mentioned that Caroline had been a part of their school community for many years and they had witnessed her graduation from WCA with pride.
Caroline Lupton was also a member of the theatre group, Smiles and Frowns Playhouse, who shared their condolences on social media. They expressed their sadness and offered sincere sympathies to her family and friends during this devastating time, emphasizing that she will be remembered and missed.
Looking ahead, Harrington encourages parents to closely monitor their children, as incidents like these can have an impact on students, even if they were not directly involved. Young students, in particular, may experience fears or anxiety following the passing of a peer.
Chief Williams provides further details, stating that Lupton was one of three individuals in the car who were transported to ECU Health Medical Center by ambulance. The truck driver involved in the accident was checked at the scene and released.
The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
