Michael Ward Obituary – The identity of the man who was fatally shot by Beloit police officer Nicholas Rodenbeck on April 28 has been disclosed by the police. Michael Ward, aged 33 and a resident of Beloit, was shot near the 1700 block of Ashland Avenue. The Wisconsin Department of Justice revealed that Ward was holding two bladed weapons and moving towards another individual when the officers instructed him to drop the weapons.
Despite the warnings, Ward did not comply, resulting in Officer Rodenbeck firing the fatal shot. Ward succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital, with no other injuries reported.
Officer Rodenbeck, who has been in law enforcement for three years, has been placed on administrative leave, as confirmed by the Wisconsin DOJ. The investigators mentioned that the law enforcement officers involved in the incident were equipped with body cameras during the encounter.
