“Triple Fatal Collision in West Chester, Butler County: Wrong-Way Driver Causes Devastating Crash on Major Thoroughfare
A devastating collision occurred on a major thoroughfare in Butler County on Sunday, May 6, 2024, resulting in the tragic loss of three lives. The West Chester police department received the initial report of the collision at approximately 6:30 p.m. and immediately halted traffic to conduct a thorough investigation.
The collision occurred on a stretch of road between Cox Road and Service Center Drive, which was closed for approximately five hours as authorities worked to determine the cause of the crash. According to eyewitnesses and 911 calls, a driver was traveling in the wrong direction, leading to two separate accidents.
The first collision occurred near the VOA shopping mall, where the wrong-way driver initially struck a vehicle. Fortunately, no one was injured in this initial collision. However, the driver continued traveling in the wrong direction and struck another vehicle near Service Center Drive, resulting in the tragic loss of three lives.
The three vehicles involved in the accident were severely damaged and almost unrecognizable, with one vehicle even flipping entirely over on the side of the road. Emergency responders arrived quickly on the scene, but unfortunately, at least two people died at the scene, and a third died later in the hospital. All three deceased individuals were adults.
