Lizzy Zito,Arianna Gamber Obituary – Charleston Police have reported that a second individual has been taken into custody in connection with a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the deaths of two 20-year-old women last weekend.
Seth Alen Gilbert Carlson, 32, from Summerville, is facing charges of two counts of reckless vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, according to Sgt. Anthony Gibson. Authorities stated that surveillance footage indicated that the victims were hit by two different vehicles: first by Carlson’s vehicle and then by a second vehicle driven by Max David Gentilin.
Gentilin was previously arrested on two counts of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and has been released on bond since then, as confirmed by Gibson. The hit-and-run incident took place at 1:12 a.m. on April 28 near the on-ramp to the Ravenel Bridge, Gibson mentioned.
Upon receiving a report of two unresponsive victims near Morrison Drive between Harris Street and Cooper Street at 8:32 a.m. on April 28, the Charleston Police Department identified the deceased victims as Lizzy Zito, 20, and Arianna Gamber, 20, both from Simpsonville, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Brittney Martin. The presence of vehicle debris nearby and the victims’ proximity to the road led officers to launch a hit-and-run investigation. Initial findings at the scene revealed a damaged 2010 Acura TL nearby, which was connected to Gentilin.
Surveillance footage depicted Carlson’s Chevrolet truck hitting the victims at 1:12 a.m. as he veered off the road while the victims were walking close to the bike lane of Morrison Drive. Approximately 30 minutes later, Gentilin’s vehicle struck them again after he drove off the road and onto the curb, Gibson explained. The Chevrolet truck was later discovered abandoned in West Ashley after Carlson allegedly crashed into a ditch and fled on foot. Carlson is currently detained at the Al Cannon Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. A mugshot of him is not yet available.
