John W. Latham, Niiben C.A. Ayivorh Obituary – Authorities reported that two individuals lost their lives in a tragic incident when a small aircraft bound for South Carolina crashed in Virginia. The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a low-flying plane and an explosion in Palmyra around 9 a.m. on Sunday. Subsequently, a plane was discovered engulfed in flames in a heavily wooded area, as stated by the Virginia State Police in a press release.
The twin-engine plane took off from Manassas Regional Airport, located approximately 71 miles (114 km) northeast of Palmyra, and was en route to Georgetown County Airport in South Carolina, according to the FAA. The pilot, identified as John W. Latham, 63, from Haymarket, and the passenger, Niiben C.A. Ayivorh, 73, from Burke, both lost their lives in the crash.
Authorities mentioned that the circumstances surrounding the crash are currently being investigated. At the time of the incident, there was light rain. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will be conducting further investigations into the matter.
