George Johnson was announced dead by the department through a social media publication that read, “It’s with deep regret that the officers and members of Nottingham Fire Department Station 65 announce the death of life member George Johnson, who passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 3, 2024.”
Who was George Johnson?
The year 1992 marked George Johnson’s first year as a live-in member of the Nottingham Fire Department Station 65 (NFD65). In the same year, he sustained an injury while participating in a training exercise. George never went back to his previous career as a firefighter, but he got quite active in the administrative side of things and served as a trustee.
In addition to being a loving father to his son Georgie, who is married to Susan, and his daughter Sam, who is married to Edgar, George was married to his cherished wife Debi for a period of 31 years. The love and affection that George has for his grandsons Matthew and Leo is also well-known.

On Thursday, May 9, 2024, during the hours of 9 am to 11 am, friends and family are cordially invited to attend a celebration of life for George, which will take place at the Tomlinson Funeral Home located on Bristol Pike. A modest memorial ceremony will begin at 11 am. George, may you rest in peace.
