Ryan Hawkins car accident: Indianapolis, IN, Victim killed in deadly road rage shooting identified, Crash on I-65 near Southport Road
Ryan Hawkins has been identified as a victim who died after being shot and crashing following a road rage shooting on the south side.
35-year-old Ryan Hawkins died after being shot and crashing into a pond. He was killed on Wednesday while driving northbound on I-65.
According to police, bullet holes in Hawkins’ car indicate he was shot at before veering off the highway into a pond.
He was found deceased after being ejected from the car.
According to Indiana State Police, troopers responded to a call for a crash on I-65 near Stop 11 and Southport roads. Once on the scene, officers were met with a car in a pond in the Redwood Apartment Complex.
Investigators found he had gunshot wounds along with injuries consistent with being thrown from the vehicle.
Police say the car ended up in the water as a result of a road rage/gunfire altercation on I-65. Multiple lanes of I-65 northbound were closed during the cleanup and investigation into the incident.
He graduated from I.S.D. in 2007. He had very good sportsmanship. Ryan was a good guy, friendly and funny. Yeah, I remember Ryan telling me he was a Pittsburgh Steelers.
He had always visited the Indiana School for the Deaf. His love for nature and his dog, Arya, was so heavenly.
His friends and family are shocked and devastated by his loss. Ryan did well with the Deaf Community.
