Nicole Ross, Cortland, Illinois Woman Died in Aurora Motorcycle Accident on May 2
At about 5:02 pm on May 1st, 2024, a tragic accident occurred near the intersection of Butterfield Road and Savannah Drive in Aurora. The accident included a motorcycle. The situation started when a 2021 Chevrolet Suburban that was heading eastbound on Butterfield Road made a U-turn within the roadway.
This was the beginning of the chain of events. In a split-second decision, a 1990 Harley Davidson motorbike that was also driving eastward on Butterfield Road was unable to stop its speed, which ultimately led to a collision with the driver’s side of the vehicle that was turning.
How did the accident happen?
A male driver, aged 30, from Batavia, Illinois, and a female passenger, aged 29, from Cortland, Illinois, were riding the motorcycle. Both individuals were from the state of Illinois. As a result of the impact of the incident, the male rider of the motorcycle was thrown off the road and ejected from the vehicle.
While this was going on, the female passenger was thrown into the westbound lanes of Butterfield Road, where she was involved in a collision with a vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction. The paramedics on duty with the Aurora Fire Department quickly transported both victims to a nearby hospital.
Even though the male rider had injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening, the female passenger was given treatment for injuries that were considered to be life-threatening. The passengers of the vehicle traveling eastbound, a woman who was 37 years old and from Naperville, Illinois, and her male passenger, who was also 37 years old and from North Aurora, Illinois, were also caught up in the chaos. Both of them sustained injuries that required them to be transported to a nearby hospital, even though their conditions were not considered to be life-threatening.
Sadly, Nicole Ross, who was 29 years old and from Cortland, Illinois, passed away as a result of the injuries she incurred in the collision. In reaction to the accident, the Traffic Division of the Aurora Police Department arrived at the scene as quickly as possible to conduct an exhaustive investigation.
At the same time that traffic investigators were painstakingly reconstructing the sequence of events that led up to the collision, Butterfield Road remained closed for several hours and cordoned off. At the same time, representatives of Aurora’s Emergency Management Agency were summoned to manage traffic diversions and facilitate the closing of the route.
