It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven L. Sepich, aged 74, on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Carle Methodist Hospital in Peoria. Steve was born on September 7, 1949, in Canton, Illinois, to Matthew and Albina (Picton) Sepich.
On December 23, 1970, Steve married the love of his life, Martha Reneau, in St. David. Martha preceded him in death on September 14, 2016.
Steve leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his family. He is survived by his two children, Trisha (Chuck) Shubert of Canton and Jill Herrick of Lewistown. He also leaves behind his brother, Marty (Thresa) Sepich of Bryant, and two sisters, Jana Sepich of Peoria and Paula (Rich Elam) Sepich of Peoria Heights. Steve was a cherished grandfather to four grandchildren: Sydney, Saydey, Nicholas, and Drake. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Matthew Sepich.
Preceding Steve in death are his parents and his brother, Frank Sepich.
A Vietnam War veteran, Steve served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he worked as the weatherization coordinator for Fulton County. While Steve had many hobbies and interests, his true passion lay in working on the family farm and spending quality time with his beloved grandchildren.
A funeral service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, with visitation two hours prior. Following the service, burial with military honors will take place at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made to the Buckheart Fire Department or to the American Cancer Society.
