One person is dead after a bullet fired from a townhouse in Danbury on Wednesday went through a wall and struck a neighbor.
Police responded to the report of a shooting at 8:37 p.m. at a home on Lake Avenue where one person was suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the Danbury Police Department.
Police said the victim was rushed to a hospital where they were pronounced dead. Their identity was not immediately released.
According to police, a preliminary investigation found that a gun was shot from inside a townhouse. A single round went through the wall and struck a neighbor who was in their home, police said.
The individual who police believe was responsible for the shooting left the scene before officers arrived. They are being sought by detectives.
“This was an isolated incident, and at this time we do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community,” the police department said in a statement.
The investigation remains “active and ongoing,” police said.
