Fox,Gordon Obituary, Death; – A tragic incident occurred on April 6 late at night on Interstate 40, resulting in the loss of two lives and the hospitalization of two others.
William Neumann, an 18-year-old varsity football player from Christ School in Asheville, has been charged in connection with the accident.
Neumann turned himself in on April 8 and is facing charges of misdemeanor death by vehicle and reckless driving to endanger.
According to the arrest warrant, Neumann was driving at a speed exceeding 100 mph without due caution, which led to the deaths of Robert Fox and Sophie Gordon.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the crash, which took place on the off-ramp of Exit 53B on I-40 near Asheville.
Neumann, who was driving a 2015 Volvo, lost control of the vehicle while attempting to exit the highway, resulting in a collision with a tree.
Fox and Gordon, who were rear passengers in the car, tragically lost their lives. Neumann and the front passenger, Hunter Sanford, sustained minor injuries and were taken to Mission Hospital.
Two other teenagers, Abby Lynn Robinson and Isabella Tarantelli, who were also rear passengers, were critically injured and transported to Mission Hospital as well. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this devastating accident.
